At PAWS-ITIVE PUPPIES, we offer puppy training classes in Ajax and Oshawa. Puppies begin learning as soon as they arrive in your home. Are they developing good habits or bad? Let us help you train your puppy before problem behaviour is established. PAWS-ITIVE PUPPIES gives you the tools to assist in shaping your puppy’s attitude in a gentle, positive way. Many problems begin at a young age and, if left untreated, can become serious. Waiting until puppies are six months old, larger in size, with an attitude of a “teenager” and hormones surfacing can make training a challenge for most pet owners.
In our classes your puppy will learn self-confidence through socializing with other puppies and families. We use scientifically proven training techniques that will help you understand your puppy’s behaviour and teach your puppy to be a happy family pet and good canine citizen.
Topics covered include:
Sit, down, stand – using verbal commands and hand signals, coming when called, “leave it”, proper door greeting and passing strangers in the street, attention exercises, calming techniques, grooming and hygiene, pet accessories, food bowl etiquette, crate-training, tips for good child/puppy relationships, solutions for nipping and biting and dealing with problem behaviours like jumping up and chasing pant legs combined with how to teach your puppy to respect you. We try to help new puppy owners understand canine behaviour and dog body language. We provide you with problem solving techniques when your dog doesn’t do what you ask and help you learn how to motivate your dog to want to work for you. Each session ends with a puppy play period. We have lots of fun — play games and hold a Best Puppy Trick contest on graduation day.
Each week participants take home a written information package regarding the material covered in that session. A graduation diploma is awarded on completion of the course.
